Five years ago, outsourcing a contact centre meant outsourcing the technology that ran it. The BPO turned up with their stack, you accepted it, and migration risk made switching providers expensive.
That pattern is breaking. More of the South African enterprises we work with now own the CX platform directly, and contract the BPO purely for the human operation on top. The platform stays. The operator can change.
This separation changes the negotiating dynamic with BPOs, makes the technology investment durable across operator transitions, and gives the enterprise visibility into operational data it would otherwise lose. For enterprises with five-year horizons on customer experience, it is the structurally better position.
